The last of three welterweight bouts on the preliminary card at UFC 255 pairs impressive Californian Daniel Rodriguez against Denmark’s Nicolas Darby live from the UFC APEX and available on ESPN+.
Rodriguez has a 13-1 career record in MMA, has won nine fights in a row, and is 4-0 in a UFC octagon counting his Dana White’s Contender Series win in July of 2019. “D-Rod” lands a whopping 8.46 strikes per minute, but also gets hit a ton with 7.14 taken as well. 11 of his 13 career victories are by stoppage, including seven by knockout.
He KO’d Dwight Grant in just 144 seconds in his last octagon appearance on August 22nd. A big win for Rodriguez will get him in the mix for a Top 15 slot at 170 lbs.
Dalby is 18-3-1 with two no contests, and at 36 years old he’ll want to make the most of his second-stint in the UFC. He was 1-2-1 from 2015-18 before being released, and is 1-0 with a no contest since his return in September of 2019. He’s yet to earn a stoppage in the black octagon, and will be a significant underdog to do so Saturday night.
