The Clemson Tigers will welcome back Trevor Lawrence back onto the field after he missed time recovering from a positive coronavirus test. In his first game back, he will lead a team as five-touchdown favorites going on the road to play the Florida State Seminoles.
Florida State’s opt out list continues to grow throughout the 2020 season, while Clemson likely needs to win out to be a part of the College Football Playoff. All of the motivation resides with the Tigers heading into this one.
So where are sports bettors going as we get closer to game time? Let’s take a look. All odds and info were provided by DraftKings Sportsbook.
Point Spread
Clemson comes in as 35-point road favorites, and the public is still on its side. Among the bettors at DraftKings who placed a wager on the point spread, 56% of the bets are going to the Tigers as well as 67% of the handle.
Is the public right? This is such a high number especially going against a program that should be among the contenders every year, but yes I’m siding with the public on this one. The stats are heavily in Clemson’s favor in just about everything. There is a culture of losing in the Florida State locker room right now, and I’m not sure where the motivation comes from for a team that is seeing some of its leaders call it quits midway through the season. Clemson could be close to hitting this number by halftime as sad as that sounds for Seminoles fans.
Over/Under
The point total is at 64.5 with bettors excited to get after the over in this game. Among the over/under wagers, 92% of bets are on the over with 90% of the handle.
Is the public right? Yes. Clemson is going to score so many points in this game, and there isn’t a good reason to believe the Seminoles will be able to stop it. The Tigers will likely need Florida State to chip in a few points to help out the cause, but they should get close enough that the Seminoles won’t have to do too much.
