If you’re looking for a competitive college football game, there are plenty of them out there on Saturday, but the Florida Gators traveling to play the Vanderbilt Commodores might not be the game for you. Florida is expected to win this game fairly easily as it comes in with College Football Playoff hopes, while Vanderbilt is still searching for win No. 1. Thankfully, there is this new thing called sports betting that can keep viewers interested.
So where are sports bettors going as we get closer to game time? Let’s take a look. All odds and info were provided by DraftKings Sportsbook.
Point Spread
Florida comes into this game favored by 31.5 points, and that’s where just about all the actions is coming in among DraftKings bettors. Of all the point spread wager on this game, 96% are on the Gators as well as 98% of the handle.
Is the public right? Yes. When the point spread is this high, sometimes it comes down to how badly a team wants to embarrass the opponent. Dan Mullen has been a bit of a wild card this season, and he doesn’t appear to have the greatest relationship with Vanderbilt head coach Derek Mason after they got into it during a game in 2018. Florida has the offense to score on Vanderbilt every possession, and I think Mullen wants this one to hurt.
Over/Under
The point total is set at 68, and sports bettors are all in on the over as well with 78% of the bets and 83% of the handle.
Is the public right? No. I’m more inclined to take the under here. I expect Florida to reach the 40s and potentially the 50s, but I’m not sure the Vanderbilt offense will have much success. I’ll take the under, betting against an offense that ranks No. 109 in the country in yards per play at 4.7.
