The Indianapolis Colts don’t ask a lot of veteran quarterback Philip Rivers. He is the caretaker of an offense slavishly and fairly successfully devoted to its running game. And there is nothing wrong with that, unless you might be thinking about using him in fantasy football.
Fantasy Football analysis: Colts QB Philip Rivers
Rivers threw 39 passes last week, the second most of the season, completing 29 of them for 309 yards. However, only one of those throws was a touchdown pass. He has just two games this season with more than one touchdown, and those came against the Lions and the Bengals.
This week he faces a Packers defense that has been pretty tough on quarterbacks. While vulnerable to the run—which tells you a lot about the direction the Colts will go in this one—the Packers haven’t allowed an opposing passer to throw more than one touchdown in their last three games, and quarterbacks aren’t even averaging 20 fantasy points against this unit.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Sit Philip Rivers.
