The Packers will head to Indianapolis this weekend to take on a stingy Colts defense that has allowed the third fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs so far this season. Given the difficult match-up, can Aaron Jones or Jamaal Williams be trusted to start in your lineups? We break down the fantasy analysis below.
Fantasy Football analysis: Packers RBs Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams
Aaron Jones has regained his spot as the top dog in the Packers backfield since returning from injury in Week 9. He received double digit carries and recorded 5 receptions in each of the games since his return. Jones is averaging 20.3 points per game and has a featured role in a high scoring offense with a highly efficient quarterback. The Colts are a matchup to avoid, but some players are matchup proof. Jones happens to be one of those players. His normal weekly value takes a small hit given the propensity of the Colts to make life hard on opposing running backs. Even so, Jones can still be inserted in lineups as an RB1 this weekend.
Jamaal Williams experienced some success in Jones’ absence earlier this season, only to see his role diminish upon Jones’ return and then to subsequently be forced to sit out in Week 9 due to COVID 19. Williams received eight carries which he turned into 30 yards and added three receptions for 25 yards in Week 10. Williams’ continued involvement in the passing game and the increased scoring opportunity that comes as a member of the Packers offense salvages Williams fantasy value and he can be considered as a flex play with limited upside this weekend.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Aaron Jones as an RB1
Start Jamaal Williams as a low end flex
