Why I like the Rams ATS on MNF vs. Buccaneers

I think the Rams can cover the spread and secure a second straight win against the Buccaneers on Monday.

The Los Angeles Rams will travel to Raymond James Stadium to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a Monday Night Football matchup to wrap up Week 11. Both teams are in the hunt to win their respective divisions and need wins to stay stop the leaders from pulling away. The Rams excel against the pass while the Buccaneers have stuffed the run all year, so this game could go down to the wire.

Tampa Bay is favored at -220 and has looked dominant for the most part in recent weeks. A blowout loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 9 derailed an impressive three-game winning streak the Buccaneers had going and they could struggle against a Rams secondary that shut down the most dynamic passing attack in the NFL in Week 9. I think Los Angeles has a good chance to cover the spread thanks to their well-rounded defense and Tampa Bay’s inconsistent ground game.

ATS Pick: Rams

The Rams (+190) are 4.5-point underdogs on DraftKings Sportsbook. Los Angeles has given up a league-low nine passing touchdowns and only the Indianapolis Colts have given up fewer receiving yards. Jalen Ramsey is the star of the of the secondary and the pressure generated by Aaron Donald and Leonard Floyd will make things even harder on Tom Brady.

The Rams have also given up the fourth-fewest rushing yards in the NFL. Leonard Fournette and Ronald Jones II have combined for less than 90 yard three times in their last four games. Jones had a bounce back game against the Carolina Panthers in Week 9 but I don’t anticipate seeing another 98-yard score from him. Brady, Mike Evans, and at least one other wideout will have to be firing on all cylinders to produce against a defense that’s fresh off shutting down Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks.

Los Angeles isn’t built to dominate Tampa Bay on the ground with any combination of Darrell Henderson Jr., Malcolm Brown, and Cam Akers. However, the emergence of Josh Reynolds has given new life to the Rams’ passing attack. Goff has thrown for at least 300 yards in back-to-back games and should move the chains enough to get his team ahead by more than a field goal. This game could be close, but I think the visitors have an edge.
