The NFC East remains a dumpster fire, but it actually managed to win two games in Week 11! The Cowboys stunned the Vikings and Washington beat the Bengals to each improve to 3-7. The Eagles lost to the Browns to drop to 3-6-1 while the Giants were on bye. That leaves us with the division standings as follows through Week 11.
Philadelphia Eagles: 3-6-1
New York Giants: 3-7
Washington Football Team: 3-7
Dallas Cowboys: 3-7
The Eagles hold the half game edge thanks to their Week 3 tie against the Bengals. The Giants have the tiebreaker edge among the 3-7 teams thanks to their record between the three teams.
Last week, week took a look at how the NFC East could finish with a five-win division champ. The scenario had nobody winning non-divisional games, so the Cowboys and Washington ended that in a hurry on Sunday. However, the Eagles losing leaves a five-win team still in the mix. I suspect we’ll see the division champ finish with six wins, but the Eagles are proving bad enough that it really might not happen.
The big game this week is Washington at Dallas on Thanksgiving. Washington won the first won 25-3 and would look to secure the head-to-head tiebreaker with another win. The Giants travel to face the Bengals and the Eagles host the Seahawks on Monday Night Football.
Below is an updated spreadsheet looking at each team’s schedule and factoring in no more non-divisional wins the rest of the season. Sunday proved that could change, but it’s still not crazy to think these teams only win divisional matchups.
