The New York Jets running back Lamical Perine was forced from their Week 11 game against the Chargers with what is now being called a high-ankle sprain, per ESPN’s Rich Cimini. This type of injury varies in the time it takes to heal, but we can expect him to miss at least the next two games and likely more if it is sever.
The rookie was on his way to seeing more work as the winless Jets look to evaluate younger players, but that will be put on hold for now. He had rushed eight times for 33 yards and a touchdown before suffering his ankle injury, but now the venerable Frank Gore will see an increase in work as the Jets likely coast to the No. 1 pick in the draft.
We will also see the second-year running back Ty Johnson see an uptick in work, which will likely be as a receiving back. In very deep leagues, Johnson could have some PPR appeal while Gore is going to see enough work to be useful in 14 team leagues maybe.
