Report: Jaguars benching Jake Luton, starting Mike Glennon in Week 12

The Jaguars are making a QB switch that shouldn’t change much in Week 12.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have decided they’ve seen enough of Jake Luton for the time being. The team is benching Luton and will start Mike Glennon in Week 12 against the Cleveland Browns, per national reports. Injured starter Gardner Minshew continues his rehab back from a thumb injury, but his status with the team was growing tenuous the more the team struggled.

The Jaguars currently hold the No. 2 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft order and even without the No. 1 pick could still land a Justin Fields or other quarterback behind Trevor Lawrence. Regardless of what reason the Jaguars give, a move to Glennon doesn’t really make much difference in their bid for a top pick. He has more experience than Luton and Minshew, but he’s not any better.

This is probably the most interesting aspect of the decision to move to Glennon. Otherwise, it’s just another mediocre quarterback that won’t upgrade or downgrade the Jaguars pass catchers compared to where they were a week ago.
