What goes together better than college basketball and turkey? And this year, the basketball will be a lot better the football: Because of Covid-19, you’re down to Texans-Lions and an NFC East game for the pros, and two 0-4 Mountain West teams in college.
Nothing like getting started watching college hoops early, right? And there’s a beauty today with the #1 Gonzaga Bulldogs and the #6 Kansas Jayhawks in Ft. Myers, Florida in a game where tickets are a mere $222 in the upper corner of the arena.
The Zags added some loaded transfer talent to a team that would have been the #1 overall seed in the 2020 NCAA Tournament, and freshman Jalen Suggs might be the best player to ever come to Spokane. Add him to returners Joel Ayayi and Drew Timme, and the loss of Filip Petrusev to the pros after what should have been a magical NCAA run wears off pretty quick.
And if the FBI or NCAA doesn’t keep Bill Self in an interrogation room before tip-off (don’t worry, they’ve spent over a million bucks defending the basketball program), we should have one heckuva battle. Marcus Garrett is a very good pro prospect as a three-and-D guy, and Silvio de Sousa and David McCormack will look to control the paint when KU goes big.
Football today stinks. Before you sit down to dinner, watch one of the best college hoops games of the year at 1:30 p.m.
And remember: Everything below is indeed subject to change because it’s 2020 and there’s a global pandemic happening.
