Friday update: Andy Reid told the media Sammy Watkins has a “pretty good chance” of playing on Sunday against the Bucs, per Sam McDowell.
The Kansas City Chiefs are on track to get wide receiver Sammy Watkins back for Week 12 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was working back in Week 11, but a mid-week calf injury resulted in him being downgraded to out over the weekend.
This week, Watkins has been listed as a full participant on the Wednesday and Thursday practice participation reports. Barring any kind of aggravation or new injury, Watkins will be playing on Sunday.
Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill have been the clear leaders in the pass-catching department, but Watkins will be a big addition to the prolific offense. Mecole Hardman and Demarcus Robinson will get looks, but Watkins should move up the depth chart ahead of both receivers.
Watkins isn’t a great fantasy start right out of the gate, but is worth tracking. He had 82 yards and a score in Week 1, had 62 yards in Week 3, and a score in Week 5 before a hamstring injury sidelined him.
