In a women’s flyweight matchup on the main card of UFC Vegas 16, Gina Mazany will take on Rachael Ostovich Saturday in Las Vegas and available on ESPN+.
The 32-year-old Mazany is heading into the octagon with a professional fighting record of 6-4, and this is her second UFC fight and third overall in 2020. “Danger” Mazany fought in June at UFC on ESPN 10, where she lost to Julia Avila in Round 1 by TKO using a knee to the body and punches.
Before that fight, she defeated Valerie Barney at King of The Cage in Round 1 by rear-naked choke in January. Over her 12-year career, Mazany has competed at Alaska Fighting Championship, Rumble on the Ridge, and The Fight Club.
The 32-year-old southpaw lands 2.75 strikes per minute and has a striking accuracy of 49 percent. She also absorbs 3.14 strikes per minute and defends them also at 49 percent. As for grappling, “Danger” has a 3.14 takedown average per 15 minutes with 70 percent accuracy.
Ostovich come to the APEX with a professional fighting record of 4-5, and looking to snap her two-match losing streak. The 29-year-old from Hawaii will be fighting in her first UFC bout this year. She was scheduled to compete at UFC Fight Night 168, but was removed due to testing positive for ostarine and GW1516. Ostovich was ultimately suspended by USADA for eight months beginning in January.
The last time we saw her fight was at UFC Fight Night 143 in January of 2019, where she lost to Paige VanZant in Round 2 by armbar. The 5-foot-3 fighter has racked up 2.32 strikes landed per 15 minutes with 43 percent accuracy. She absorbs more strikes than her opponent at 3.28 per minute and defends them at 59 percent.
When it comes to grappling, she’s much better than her opponent with a 3.28 takedown average per 15 minutes and a perfect takedown accuracy of 100 percent. Ostovich also owns a 1.3 submission average per 15 minutes.
