Tale of the Tape for Miguel Baeza vs. Takashi Sato

In a welterweight bout on the main card of UFC Fight Night, Miguel Baeza will fight Takashi Sato Saturday in Las Vegas and available on ESPN+.

The 28-year-old Baeza walks into the octagon with a professional fighting record of 9-0. He’s also won two-straight UFC bouts, with his last fight taking place at UFC on ESPN 8 in May. Baeza defeated Matt Brown in Round 2 by TKO using punches.

Before he made the jump to the UFC, “Caramel Thunder” Baeza competed in Dana White’s Contender Series, Xtreme Fighting Nation, Fight Time, Titan FC, and Rings of Dreams 17. He is an adequate striker landing 4.78 strikes per 15 minutes with 56 percent accuracy. The Florida native absorbs a similar amount of strikes per minute at 4.76 while defending them at 44 percent.

He also likes to use takedowns inside the cage, with a 0.54 takedown average per 15 minutes. But he’s not good at landing them with an accuracy of 33 percent. Baeza also has a 1.1 submission average per 15 minutes.

Sato is coming into the UFC APEX with a professional fighting record of 16-3. The 30-year-old from Japan last fought in July at UFC on ESPN 12. In that contest, he defeated Jason Witt in Round 1 by TKO using punches. Before the southpaw competed at UFC, he fought with the Pancrase, Grandslam, Deep, and Tribe Tokyo Fight promotions.

“Ten” Sato lands 3.94 significant strikes per 15 minutes with 41 percent accuracy. But he absorbs a numerous amount of blows at 5.10, defending them at 51 percent. Unlike his opponent, Sato has a better takedown average per 15 minutes at 0.79 with an accuracy of 50 percent.
