Saturday Update — Practice squad running back Mike Weber has been moved to the active roster but Jones and Williams should continue to split most of the backfield work. It appears like Tyler Ervin isn’t on track to play. Aaron Jones remains the lead guy.
The Green Bay Packers running backs didn’t have the kind of stats that jump off the page in last week’s loss to the Colts, but they did both manage to chip in on the scoring. Aaron Jones had 71 total yards (41 rushing, 30 receiving) and punched in a rushing touchdown. Jamaal Williams had just 12 yards in the backup role, but did kick in a four-yard touchdown catch. They’ll face another one of the league’s better rushing defenses this week against Chicago.
Fantasy Football analysis: Packers RBs Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams
Jones is the clear favorite here, and the one that belong in fantasy lineups. Besides his usual 10-15 carries per game, he also had a regular part in the passing game, catching three to five passes a week. Williams doesn’t get enough regular work to be worth a spot in fantasy lineups.
The Bears held Dalvin Cook to 96 yards on 30 carries last week, and Derrick Henry was only able to go for 68 yards on 21 carries the week before that. So don’t expect huge numbers for Jones, but his role in the offense gives him RB2 value even in a tough matchup.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Aaron Jones. Sit Jamaal Williams.
