Is THIS the week the Akron Zips can get a win? Judging by the oddsmakers numbers, it’s unlikely as they come in as two-touchdown underdogs against the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks on Saturday afternoon.
Akron started out this season 0-3 and are losers of 20 consecutive games. Consistency is key in college football, and the Zips are accomplishing just that, spanning more than two calendar years without a victory. Akron is about as bad as it gets in this sport and continues to stay competitive even in the MAC. Defensively, the Zips are ranked dead last in college football in yards per play allowed and gave up totals of 58 and 69 points in two of their three games.
Miami (OH) had its season disrupted by the coronavirus and hasn’t played since Nov. 10 with last week’s game against Ohio canceled. In their last game the RedHawks struggled to a 42-10 loss to the Buffalo Bulls on the road, one of the better teams in the MAC. It’s only been two games, but Miami (Ohio) doesn’t rank all that well statistically either especially on defense as it is 121st in yards per play allowed.
Miami (Ohio) won the last three games of this series including the 2019 matchup in which the RedHawks won 20-17 at home.

The Best Bet
If there’s one thing I’m thankful for this year, it’s the items I was able to buy after betting against Akron over the past couple years. I don’t know how you could ever feel comfortable betting on the Zips, so we’re going to take Miami (Ohio) here to win big because that’s what teams do against Akron, even as two-touchdown favorites on the road.
Pick: Miami (Ohio) -14.5
