Let’s not sugar coat it, the Jayhawks are a very bad team. Kansas only ranks above 100 in two statistical categories, and even in those it ranks 98th. Les Miles and his crew have failed to score more than 25 points in every single game this year. They’ve only hit the 20+ mark twice and only one of them was in a Big 12 game. The boys in blue and red give up close to 500 yards each week and haven’t held an opponent under 50 points in any of its last three games.
TCU isn’t a team that will score a bunch of points either, but its defense has been very good this season. The Horned Frogs D has had success against both the pass and the run, keeping teams behind the chains 36% of the time, which is 15th best in the country. It gives up the occasional explosive play, but it’s a Big 12 team, so you have to expect that with the offenses it usually sees. Still, even in an offense-happy conference, Gary Patterson’s squad gives up just 26.7 points per game, which is even more impressive considering they don’t take the ball away much at all, getting just six turnovers on the season.

The Best Bet
The point total is a bit of a sketchy one this week. Because of how awful the Jayhawk defense is, you’d expect TCU to run up the score. But TCU’s offense is ‘meh,’ at its best. So hit the spread on this one. Kansas hasn’t covered once this year and loses all its games by a lot.
Hey, at least its basketball season now??
Pick: TCU -24.5
