UPDATE: Because Conner tested positive this weekend, he’ll miss both this Tuesday’s game against the Ravens and the following Sunday’s game against Washington. He has to remain on the Covid-19 IR list at least ten days.
The Pittsburgh Steelers placed three players on the Covid-19 injured reserve list, and they may soon have another. Running back James Conner has tested positive and will await a second test on Sunday to confirm or refute the test, per Aditi Kinkhabwala. The team is reportedly also dealing with an assistant coach testing positive.
Conner would be the fourth player to join the Steelers’ Covid IR list. The team placed defensive end Isaiah Buggs, offensive tackle Jerald Hawkins, and defensive end Stephon Tuitt on the list on Friday.
Benny Snell would be next man up for the Steelers, with Anthony McFarland moving into the backup running back role. The team had already ruled out Jaylen Samuels with a quadricep injury.
The Steelers and Ravens are scheduled to play Tuesday evening after a second rescheduling of what was originally a Thanksgiving night game. It was moved to Sunday earlier in the week, and then on Friday was moved to Tuesday. Given the growing number of positive tests, it is still a possibility the game gets moved out of Week 12 entirely.
