Jonnu Smith’s yardage and catch totals have been eyesores recently, but at least he has found the end zone for three straight weeks. Can he keep that streak going against the Colts?
Fantasy Football analysis: Titans TE Jonnu Smith
Jonnu Smith hasn’t reached 40 receiving yards since Week 5 and has caught just 12 passes in his last six games. Yet, he has the fourth-highest points-per-game average on DraftKings among active tight ends. How can that be? Well, first, the positon overall is generally dreadful if you’re looking for fantasy points. But second — and of more importance for Smith — is that he leads his position with eight touchdowns. He has caught seven and then ran one in against these Colts in Week 10. Indy has allowed the fourth-fewest fantasy points per game to tight ends, but it has also given up a TE TD in each of its past two games.
Annoyingly, Titans backup tight end Anthony Firkser has seen 14 targets over the last three games. However, it’s hard to say how much of an impact he’s having on Smith’s output. Smith is still on the field for at least 75 percent of the snaps consistently, and his 12 targets over the past two weeks is a healthy number.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
If your tight end is scoring touchdowns, he is worth starting. It’s that simple, and no tight end has broken the plane more often than Smith. He costs $4,100 on DraftKings.
