It’s probably not a good sign that the conversation around Carson Wentz this week mostly revolves around whether or not the Philadelphia Eagles should bench him for Jalen Hurts. Head coach Doug Pederson made it clear that’s not going to happen. And for all his struggles, Wentz might still be a low-end acceptable option in fantasy football this week with a matchup against the Seahawks.
Fantasy Football analysis: Eagles QB Carson Wentz
The problem with Wentz this season are the turnovers. He’s thrown 14 interceptions and lost four of 10 fumbles. That’s a huge risk, not just to the team itself, but also poses the risk erasing fantasy points. He had two touchdowns last week, but also two picks. The week before that, he didn’t turnover the ball, but he didn’t throw any touchdowns either.
The Seahawks are an attractive matchup because of their pass defense. They’ve given up some big games to opposing signal callers this season, and they’re vulnerable against running quarterbacks, having surrendered five rushing touchdowns to them this season. Wentz has four rushing scores himself. But, Seattle’s been a little stiffer against the position lately. Last week they held Kyler Murray to just two touchdowns, and the week before that, they kept Jared Goff off the board completely.
Given the problems Wentz and the Eagles are having lately, he’s not a recommended play for the risk-averse. But if you’re desperate, he has the chance to be a semi-decent streaming option this week.
