After being completely useless all season long, New York Jets tight end Chris Herndon actually posted some viable fantasy football numbers last week. Targeted three times against the Chargers, Herndon came away with two catches for 32 yards and a touchdown. Sure, in any normal year that would merely rate as okay, but in this woeful year of tight end production, it’s actually pretty good. So, can he repeat that this week against the Dolphins?
Fantasy Football analysis: Jets TE Chris Herndon
Let’s go ahead and deflate those expectations right off the bat: don’t bet on it. Herndon had just one catch, and two targets, in the four games prior to that. He hasn’t had more than three catches in a game since Week 1, when he also posted a season-high 37 yards. Last week’s touchdown was his first of the season too.
Even though the Dolphins have given up some points to tight ends over their last three games, Herndon’s production last week is too much of a fluke to bank on again here.
