How to handle Kalen Ballage injury in Week 12 fantasy football

Kalen Ballage is on the Chargers final injury report for Week 12. We break down what it means for fantasy football roster decisions.

Game status: Kalen Ballage is INACTIVE for Week 12. Austin Ekeler is ACTIVE.

Game day update: Kalen Ballage seems unlikely to play. Adam Schefter is reporting he is not expected to play, while Ian Rapoport is reporting Ballage is a game-time decision.

There is a lot of uncertainty in the Los Angeles Chargers’ backfield heading into this week’s game against the Buffalo Bills. Kalen Ballage, who’s been handling the majority of the workload over the last three weeks, is questionable to play. He’s dealing with an ankle injury that had him limited in practice all week.

Fantasy impact: Kalen Ballage (Ankle, calf)

It’s a good sign that Ballage was able to practice, albeit in a limited role, all week long. If he does play this week, he make a decent RB2 in fantasy lineups in a game that has the potential for a lot of points.

Complicating the picture further is the return of Austin Ekeler, who has been on injured reserve with a hamstring injury since Week 4. If he’s active and playing, it would significantly cut into Ballage’s contributions. If the team is uncertain about Ballage and rests him this week, Joshua Kelley and Troymaine Pope would see some additional work behind Ekeler.
