Tevin Coleman ruled out for Week 9 vs. Packers

The 49ers are down to JaMycal Hasty and Jerick McKinnon at the running back position heading into Thursday Night Football.

The San Francisco 49ers will be shorthanded at running back on Thursday Night Football when they face the Green Bay Packers. Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson are both on injured reserve and now Tevin Coleman has been ruled out for Week 9 due to a knee injury.

Coleman injured his knee on Sunday, hurting the same knee that cost him five weeks earlier this season. It’s unclear how much time Coleman will miss, but he won’t be able to make the short turnaround this week.

JaMycal Hasty and Jerick McKinnon are the only other running backs on the 53-man roster, and the team has Austin Walter on the practice squad. Hasty is likely to get the larger percentage of the rushing workload, and against a bad Packers defense there is value there. McKinnon will likely see more work in the passing game offering some PPR value in much deeper leagues. Hasty is the better overall fantasy option, although his floor is pretty low.
