Buccaneers WR will t”probably” play in Week 9 against the Saints.

Friday update: Chris Godwin was able to catch the ball in Friday’s practice, per Greg Auman. Coach Bruce Arians said, “We’ll see how sore (Godwin’s finger) is tomorrow. He caught the ball fine. ... I would anticipate him probably playing.” We could end up seeing a trio of Mike Evans, Antonio Brown and Godwin on the field at the same time against the Saints on Sunday.

Thursday update: Godwin was once again limited in practice, per Jenna Laine. Due to the cast, it will come down to whether or not he can catch a ball on Friday.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin was at walkthrough on Wednesday, but had a cast on his injured hand, per The Athletic’s Greg Auman. Godwin was a full participant in the walkthrough, per Jenna Laine, but there is a cast on his hand, which probably isn’t helpful when trying to catch a pass. Coach Bruce Arians went on to say, “We won’t know until Friday if he can catch a ball.”

The Buccaneers also had Antonio Brown as a full participant in the walkthrough. His availability will be based on his understanding of the playbook and conditioning, but it does appear that he is going to play and have a role of some sort, which could easily grow with positive plays on Sunday. And if Godwin is out again, there should be more opportunity for Brown, who hasn’t played in a game since his short stint with the Patriots.
