The 49ers continue to be kicked while they are down, as they lost another key offensive weapon in George Kittle in Week 8. Kittle has a foot fracture and is more than likely done for the season. As Jordan Reed recuperates from a knee injury, the 49ers are left with Ross Dwelley to fill the large void that Kittle has left. Will Dwelley hold value anywhere close to that of George Kittle and is he worth inserting in your lineups? We break down the fantasy analysis below.
Fantasy Football analysis: 49ers TE Ross Dwelley
Ross Dwelley took over for George Kittle in a Week 8 match-up with Seattle, and finished with one reception for 16 yards. Luckily for Dwelley, that reception happened to be a touchdown. It’s no secret that the 49ers love to utilize the TE position, but it’s tough to tell if that was partly due to Kittle’s prowess for success. The Packers are pretty stingy to TEs this season, allowing an average of 5.1 half-PPR points per game to the position. Aside from a Week 6 18.8 PPR performance by Rob Gronkowski, the next highest scoring tight end this season when facing the Packers was Hayden Hurst’s 9.1 PPR point performance in Week 4. Given the new starting role, the general uncertainty surrounding the 49ers offense, and the tough match-up, it may be best to wait and see on Ross Dwelley right now.
