Well, things certainly changed in a hurry for the San Francisco 49ers’ offense heading into Week 9. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel and tight end George Kittle were ruled out ahead of the game, along with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Nick Mullens was looking at Brandon Aiyuk and Kendrick Bourne as his go-to guys, only to have Bourne test positive for Covid-19 and Aiyuk going on Covid-19 IR as a high risk close contact.
All of that leaves the 49ers shorthanded at wide receiver. Trent Taylor and Richie James are on the 53-man roster, with James questionable due to an ankle injury. The team will likely promote one or all of River Cracraft, Kevin White, and Chris Finke from the practice squad.
Fantasy Football analysis: 49ers wide receivers
Aiyuk would have been a very solid option against the Packers defense. Now we’re left with Taylor, James, and others. Taylor has nine receptions in what has been a slow season for him. A couple years back he looked ready to break out before a broken foot cost him all of last season. This is a decent opportunity for him. The floor is low, but there’s some ceiling with few other pass-catching options.
Other than that, this is a punt week for most of your Niner options. There are just too many questions for a team that is without most of its Week 1 starters.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Sit Taylor outside of flexing in deeper PPR leagues. Sit all others.
