What to do with Julio Jones, Russell Gage in Week 9 fantasy football

We go over Julio Jones, Russell Gage’s fantasy football outlook ahead of the Falcons Week 9 matchup against the Broncos.

Game day update: In a game that has the potential to be high-scoring, Falcons WR Julio Jones will be the top target for QB Matt Ryan. The veteran wide receiver has gone over the century mark twice in two of the Falcons’ last three games. However, he hasn’t scored a touchdown since Week 6. That should change against a Broncos’ defense that is average at best. Gage hasn’t scored a touchdown since Week 2 but if Ridley can’t play, he should see an uptick in production. ESPN projects Jones and Gage to score 11 and 5 fantasy points, respectively.

The Atlanta Falcons have been able to put up big numbers through the air this season thanks to their talented receiving corps. Matt Ryan leads the NFL in passing yards and any one of top targets could have a strong outing against the Denver Broncos in Week 9 against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Football analysis: Falcons WRs Julio Jones, Russell Gage

Calvin Ridley is day-to-day because of a foot injury he suffered against the Carolina Panthers in Week 8 so the passing attack could be led by Jones and Gage. Jones torched Carolina with 7 receptions for 137 yards in his last outing and will likely be the most targeted player in this matchup. While he’s been banged up in 2020 he’s produced at a high level when healthy. He’s inside the top 10 in receiving yards despite having missed two games and could build on his last performance. Gage has fallen off quite a bit since eclipsing the century mark in Week 1. He’s the WR3 when everyone is healthy but only has three fewer targets than Jones. He’s been held under three catches in four games but could get a boost in production if Ridley is ruled out.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Jones is a must-start in this matchup but only start Gage if Ridley is ruled out.
