It’s a matchup between two undefeated Mountain West teams on Friday night as the San Jose State Spartans head south to take on the San Diego State Aztecs.

Both teams come into this matchup with high-powered offenses, though they do it in very different ways. The Spartans have won their two games by dominating the air attack. Quarterback Nick Starkel already has seven touchdowns through just two games. SJSU scores an average of 27.5 points per game and allows just 13.5 points, however it is a very small sample size. On the ground the team has struggled, failing to eclipse 100 yards on the ground either week.

The Aztecs are pretty much the exact opposite. Through two games SDSU has close to 700 total yards and six touchdowns on the ground, including a 400+ yard performance last week against Utah State. Running back Greg Bell has two of those six scores and also has 268 yards and is averaging more than six yards a carry. The SDSU defense is very stingy, allowing allow just 6.5 points per game, holding opponents to six (UNLV) and seven (Utah State) points respectively.

The Best Bet

Both teams here have fantastic defenses and very good offenses. San Jose State has been good against the run, especially considering one game was against Air Force. The sample size makes it tough because so little is known about either team, but we’ll go with the talented defensive units tonight.

Pick: Under 47.5
