In the main event of UFC Vegas 13, Thiago Santos will take on Glover Teixeira in a light heavyweight bout on Saturday in Las Vegas, and available on ESPN+.

The 36-year-old Santos walks into the octagon with an overall record of 21-7. This is the Brazilian mixed martial artist’s first UFC fight this year. He was supposed to fight Teixeria at UFC Fight Night 177 in September, but Teixeria tested positive for COVID-19 a week before the fight. This meant that the fight had to be rescheduled for October. But Santos tested positive for the disease in September, ultimately pushing it to this weekend.

Nevertheless, the last time Santos was in the ring, he lost to Jon “Bones” Jones in July of 2019 by a split decision. During that match, Santos suffered multiple lower-body injuries, which was a reason for the long layoff.

Before that fight, “Marreta” Santos defeated Jan Blachowicz at UFC Fight Night 145 in February 2019 by TKO. Santos is a competent striker who can grapple when needed. He lands 4.40 strikes per minute with a striking accuracy of 47 percent. The veteran fighter also absorbs 2.19 strikes per minute, while his defense is at 57 percent. The 6-foot-2 Santos has a 0.83 takedown average per 15 minutes and a takedown accuracy of 68 percent.

Teixeira heads into the UFC APEX with an overall record of 31-7. The 41-year-old Brazilian will be looking for his second-straight win this year in the octagon. At UFC Fight Night 171 in May, Teixeira defeated Anthony Smith by TKO in the fifth round.

The 6-foot-2 Brazilian lands 3.74 strikes per minute with an accuracy of 47 percent. When it comes to strikes absorbed, Teixeira takes his fair share of them at 3.87 per minute. Unlike Santos, Teixeira is the better grappler with a 1.87 takedown average per 15 minutes, 38 percent takedown accuracy, and takedown defense of 60 percent.
