In a middleweight bout on the undercard of UFC Vegas 13, Trevin Giles will take on Bevon Lewis Saturday in Las Vegas, and available on ESPN+.
Giles heads to the octagon with a professional record of 12-2, last fighting earlier this year at UFC 247. In that February contest, the 28-year-old won by a split decision over James Krause. After that fight, “The Problem” was supposed to participate at UFC Fight Night: Brunson vs. Shahabazyan in August. But the match was canceled as Giles’ heart stopped before he walked out after a difficult weight cut.
The 28-year-old fighter is coming into Saturday’s match as the underdog in every respect. Giles lands 3.61 strikes per minute with a striking accuracy of 56 percent. However, he doesn’t absorb a lot of strikes per minute at 1.75, while his defense is at 63 percent. Since he’s going up against a striker, Giles’ best bet to win might be through grappling. Giles has a 1.47 takedown average per 15 minutes, with a percent accuracy of 100 percent.
The 29-year-old Lewis is looking for his second victory in 2020. Lewis has a professional record of 7-2 but has a 1-2 record in the UFC. At UFC Fight Night 166 in January, Bevon “Extraordinary Gentleman” Lewis defeated Dequan Townsend by unanimous decision. The mixed martial artist is a powerful striker, recording 4.05 strikes landed per minute with an accuracy of 45 percent. He also absorbs more hits than Giles, producing 2.52 per minute.
