What to do with Dalvin Cook, Alexander Mattison in Week 9 fantasy football

We go over Dalvin Cook, Alexander Mattison’s fantasy football outlook ahead of the Vikings Week 9 matchup against the Lions.

Game day update: Cook is good shape to follow up his four-touchdown performance from Week 8 with another strong showing. Mattison was hardly used last Sunday and I expect him a have a small role again given Cook’s recent success. Detroit could have its hands full after giving up three touchdowns between Jordan Wilkins and Nyheim Hines last Sunday.

What do you do for a follow up after pulling off one of the biggest performances a running back’s had all season? If you’re Dalvin Cook, you just get ready for what could be another big game, this time against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Football analysis: Vikings RB Dalvin Cook, Alexander Mattison

Cook had four touchdowns last week against the Packers. Three of his scores came on the ground, and he also had 163 rushing yards. And that wasn’t all. He added another 63 receiving yards and a touchdown to singlehandedly carry the Vikings to a win. That was also the third time in his last four games that he’s had over 100 rushing yards. Cook has scored in every game he’s played this season.

The Lions defense hasn’t been very good against the run this season. They gave up 89 yards and a touchdown to Jordan Wilkins of the Colts last week. Todd Gurley scored twice the week before that. They’ll have to sell out to try and control Cook, but even then, they’ll have a hard time stopping him.

Mattison hasn’t had much work since Cook missed Week 6 with an injury. He always gets a few reps, but with Cook steamrolling defenses, there’s just not much need for him.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Start Dalvin Cook. Sit Alexander Mattison.
