Game day update: The Steelers face an abysmal Cowboys defense that ranks seventh worst in fantasy points allowed to opposing wide receivers. JuJu Smith-Schuster is projected in ESPN PPR leagues to have 13.0 points, while Chase Claypool is projected to have 13.5 points. Claypool is the highest projected Steeler receiver this week.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have a ton of capable pass catchers this season and that’s made things hard on fantasy managers looking to make quality plays at wide receiver. Ben Roethlisberger doesn’t seem to have a favorite but Chase Claypool and JuJu Smith Schuster have been the most productive options so far.
Fantasy Football analysis: Steelers WRs JuJu Smith-Schuster, Chase Claypool
Claypool ranks fourth in receptions (23) on the Steelers but leads the team in receiving yards (374) and touchdowns (5). The rookie has been Pittsburgh’s most productive pass catcher three times in the last four weeks. Smith-Schuster leads all Steelers wideouts in receptions (39) and targets (50). He took a back seat to Diontae Johnson early in the season but has seen a spike in production over the last two weeks. The Cowboys have a middle of the road pass defense but are giving up more points per game than any team in the NFL. It’s hard to see any Steelers receiver having more red zone upside than Claypool because of his 6’4” frame and involvement in the ground game.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
All the Steelers’ top three wideouts are worth a start in this matchup, but I’d prioritize Claypool over the rest because of how consistent he’s been lately.
