How and what to watch for Western Kentucky vs. Florida Atlantic

Western Kentucky takes on Florida Atlantic on Saturday night. Where should bettors be headed leading into the matchup?

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers will head on the road to play the Florida Atlantic Owls in a Conference USA matchup on Saturday night.

Western Kentucky enters Saturday night’s game with a 2-5 overall record including 1-2 in conference play for fifth place in the Conference USA East division. It is coming off a 41-10 loss to the then-No. 11 BYU Cougars on Saturday in a game that got away from the Hilltoppers early. There isn’t much to take away from that especially since BYU is by far the better football team. Tyrrell Pigrome completed 19 of 30 passes for 106 yards and a touchdown for Western Kentucky, and Gaej Walker carried the ball 17 times for 75 yards.

Florida Atlantic has seen a number of its games postponed so far this season and currently sit with a 2-1 overall record with all games in-conference, so the Owls are in a tie for second place in the East division. Florida Atlantic is coming off last weekend’s 24-3 victory over UTSA. Nick Tronti completed 11 of 19 passes for 136 yards and a touchdown. Malcolm Davidson led the Owls on the ground, carrying the ball 14 times for 115 yards, and the defense limited UTSA to just 230 yards of offense.

Western Kentucky snapped a two-game losing streak in this series by beating Florida Atlantic 20-14 on the road in 2019.

The Best Bet

If you like offensive firepower, you’re probably not going to see much of it in this game from either team, which is why the point total is incredibly low. In a combined 10 games these two teams have played, neither team has scored more than 24 points. Sweat it out, root for short-yardage running plays to keep the clock rolling and take this under.
