The best game and sleeper game to watch in Week 10 of the college football schedule

The return of the MAC and Pac-12 is happening in the 10th week of the college football season for a nearly full slate. What will need to be watched this weekend?

NCAA Football: Notre Dame at Pittsburgh Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

As a college football world, we are officially at as full of a slate as we can get in the 2020 season with just a few teams sitting out this fall. With the return of MAC and Pac-12 football, let’s be happy we’ve been able to make it this far and hopefully by next season every team will be playing its full schedule of games.

Until then, we take a look at Week 10 of the college football season. There are some incredible matchups in an absolutely loaded slate with College Football Playoff implications on the line. What games should you be checking out? Which should you skip?

Let’s dive into all the action.

Best game

The obvious candidates here are the Georgia Bulldogs taking on the Florida Gators in Jacksonville, and the nightcap with the Clemson Tigers and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Let’s go with the second one as it features two undefeated ACC opponents.

Trevor Lawrence was ruled out for this game last weekend, so DJ Uiagalelei had a full week of practice after making his first start on Saturday against Boston College where he threw for 342 yards and two touchdowns. Notre Dame’s defense is its strength and if the Irish can limit the playmakers for Clemson, they will have a shot.

Sleeper game

For our sleeper game of the weekend, let’s head out to Iowa City where the Iowa Hawkeyes are set to take on the Michigan State Spartans. Iowa had about as bad of an offseason as it could have with former players speaking out against the program, and it ultimately led to the highest-paid strength coach in the sport no longer being with the team.

As those off-the-field issues appeared to linger going into the season, Iowa started off the year 0-2 and senior Ihmir Smith-Marsette was arrested over the weekend for OWI. On the other side, Michigan State had very low expectations for Year 1 under Mel Tucker, which started with a loss to Rutgers, but went on the road and beat Michigan last weekend. I think we’ll learn a whole lot about both team when this game is all over.

Worst game

We’ll head to the afternoon slate for the very worst game of the college football weekend, and we’ll take a look at a matchup in the conference that just means more. The Mississippi State Bulldogs will welcome the Vanderbilt Commodores with these teams coming in with a combined record of 1-8, and both offenses have been a complete mess. Of the nine combined games these two teams have played this season, only twice did one of them score more than 14 points.

Go mow the lawn, go rake the leaves, stare at a blank TV screen, do anything you can to avoid watching this game in the SEC. This applies to player relatives and athletic department employees as well.

Here are the kickoff times, TV network, odds, and bet splits for all games during Week 10 of the 2020 college football season.
