Game day update: Matthew Stafford’s Sunday COVID-19 test came back negative, so he’s cleared to start this game. It’s a lucky break for this receiving corps that will be without their stud, Kenny Golladay, as Stafford under center will help raise the floor of each of these wideouts.
Detroit Lions wide receivers Marvin Jones, Danny Amendola and Marvin Hall may be dependent on the health of their starting quarterback Matthew Stafford. How should fantasy owners handle the Lions receivers as we get closer to Sunday?
Let’s take a closer look.
Fantasy Football analysis: Lions WR Marvin Jones, Danny Amendola, Marvin Hall
In last week’s game against the Indianapolis Colts, a 41-21 home loss, Hall had a breakout game with a career-high 113 yards receiving on four catches. Amendola added 54 yards on three receptions, and Jones scored two touchdowns on three catches for 39 yards.
An important item to note looking ahead to Sunday is Stafford being on the COVID-19 list. He will be eligible to play on Sunday if he does not test positive for the coronavirus before game time. If he sits out, all of the receivers would take a significant hit in production.
The Lions will face the Minnesota Vikings on the road Sunday. Minnesota is coming off a game in which it allowed 291 yards passing to Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, though that was likely impacted by a fairly windy game. Davante Adams led the Packer receivers with seven catches for 53 yards and three touchdowns.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Jones is likely the only receiver on the Lions roster worth starting, and he should be viewed as a No. 2 wide receiver if Stafford plays and bumped down to a third wide receiver if he is unable to play. Amendola and Hall should remain on the bench for fantasy purposes.
