What to do with Matt Ryan in Week 9 fantasy football

We go over Matt Ryan’s fantasy football outlook ahead of the Falcons Week 9 matchup against the Broncos.

Coming into the season, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan looked like he always does when it comes to fantasy football, a reliable passer who’s good for a set-it-and-forget-it every week starter. Though he’s had some productive gains, that’s not been the case. So what about this week against the Broncos?

Fantasy Football analysis: Falcons QB Matt Ryan

Last week against Carolina, Ryan did manage to score his first rushing touchdown in two seasons, but he failed to throw a touchdown pass for the third time this season. In fact, of his 12 touchdown passes, eight of them came in just two games.

Injuries to Atlanta’s top receivers haven’t helped. Julio Jones was hobbled earlier in the season, and now Calvin Ridley is dealing with a foot injury, leaving his status up in the air for this week’s game.

The Broncos have given up multiple touchdowns to opposing quarterbacks in four of their seven games this season. It’s not the kind of pass defense that would otherwise be a problem for Ryan and the Falcons. There’s not much reason to think he’ll have a big game this week, but he should be able to throw a couple scores and post enough yards to make him a decent fantasy option this week.
