Fantasy Football analysis: Texans RBs David Johnson, Duke Johnson Jr.
David Johnson remains the Texans’ leader in snaps, carries and basically any stat you want to use to prepare Houston running backs. The problem is he just isn’t doing a whole lot with his lead role. Since his 77-yard showing in Week 1, Johnson has topped 65 rushing yards just once. He has gained 99 yards on 33 carries over the past two weeks and hasn’t been a big contributor in the passing game. However, his 4-42-1 receiving line in Week 7 is a portent of a larger role there moving forward.
Duke Johnson’s snap count has settled to between 17-20 over Houston’s past three games, His touch counts in those games in chronological order are four, five, six.
The Jags’ defense hasn’t been completely helpless against the run this year, but they have allowed the eighth-most receptions to running backs this year. The nine RB touchdowns against Jacksonville are tied for fifth-most in the league.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
David Johnson is the only running back worth considering here. If he sees involvement as a receiver similar to what he saw in Week 7, he could be a nice play at $5,600. He is a solid RB2 in season-long formats.
