Who knows how much the firing of HC Bill O’Brien has impacted Deshaun Watson’s play, but the star quarterback’s stat lines have certainly bulked up in the three games since BOB’s dismissal. Watson will look to keep rolling Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars
Fantasy Football analysis: Texans QB Deshaun Watson
In four games with O’Brien this season, Watson threw for 1,092 yards, six touchdowns, three interceptions, a 65.6 completion rate and was sacked 16 times.
In three games since? Watson has put up 1,003 yards, nine touchdowns, two interceptions, a 73.8 completion rate and took six sacks. Again, whatever it is that the Texans are doing under interim head coach Romeo Crennel and offensive coordinator Tim Kelly, it’s working for Watson. And he should succeed yet again this week against a Jaguars team that Watson hosted back in Week 4, the Texans’ first game without O’Brien. Watson came away with 29.9 DraftKings points that day. The Jags, who have allowed the third-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, were shredded in their most recent game by Justin Herbert to the tune of 41.5 DK points.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Given Houston’s sluggish running game, feel free to pencil Watson in for another 300-plus yards and three scores in Week 9. He is the fourth-most expensive QB on the slate at $7,100.
