The Jacksonville Jaguars are making a change at quarterback this week. Out is Gardner Minshew, who’s dealing with a thumb injury and hadn’t been playing all that great lately. In his place, Jake Luton, a rookie sixth-round pick out of Oregon State will start this week against the Texans.
Fantasy Football analysis: Jaguars QB Jake Luton
Luton wasn’t a bust in college by any means, but it’s rare that a sixth-round quarterback breaks through to become a viable NFL starter. He supposedly can throw the ball downfield better than Minshew.
The Texans have given up eight passing touchdowns in their last two games, four apiece for Ryan Tannehill and Aaron Rodgers, who aren’t exactly one-to-one comparisons here. The Jaguars have seen Houston once already this season, a game that saw Minshew throw two touchdowns in a 14-30 loss. There’s a chance Luton could surprise us all and post decent numbers. I wouldn’t bet my weekly fantasy game on it though.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Sit Jake Luton.
