What to do with Kirk Cousins in Week 9 fantasy football

We go over Kirk Cousins’ fantasy football outlook ahead of the Vikings Week 9 matchup against the Lions.

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins (8) rolls out to throw a pass against the Green Bay Packers during the first quarter at Lambeau Field.  Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Game manager in real life, at best, and a fill-in streamer in fantasy football, this is the life of Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins. So what about this week? Can he be a decent option against the Detroit Lions?

Fantasy Football analysis: Vikings QB Kirk Cousins

Cousins was in a prime game managing mode last week against the Packers, throwing just 14 passes. He did throw one touchdown, to Dalvin Cook of course, as he ran all over Green Bay’s defense, literally carrying his team to a win.

This week, the Vikings play the Lions, a game that could make for a decent outing from Cousins. Philip Rivers had no problems against Detroit’s defense last week, throwing three touchdowns and 262 yards. He was the fifth QB in seven games to throw multiple scores against the Lions.

The biggest complication here is whether or not Cook can carry the offense again. It’s likely that the Lions will sell out to stop him, leaving a little more work for Cousins. I think he’s a decent QB to roll with this week.
