How to handle Drew Brees injury in Week 9 fantasy football

Drew Brees was on the Saints injury report for Week 9, but not on the final report. We break down what it means for fantasy football roster decisions.

The Week 9 official injury report does not include New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees. After being limited in two practices with a right shoulder injury, he was a full participant on Friday, and reports say that he will be active on Sunday against the Buccaneers. There was some concern earlier in the week when Brees spent practice sessions on the sideline working with trainers, without his shoulder pads.

Fantasy impact: Drew Brees (right shoulder)

Brees isn’t the only Saints regular playing this week. Wide receiver Michael Thomas returns to action too, giving Brees one of his most reliable targets for the first time since Week 1. Even without Thomas in action last week, the Saints quarterback took on a tough Bears defense and came away with 280 yards and a pair of touchdowns. With his full complement of weapons on the field, he looks like one of the better QB plays this week, even against the Buccaneers.

You can confidently insert Brees into your fantasy lineups this week.
