Why I like the Patriots ATS on MNF vs. Jets

We Patriots can bounce back by snapping their losing streak and covering the spread against the lowly Jets on Monday.

Previewing Patriots vs. Jets

The New York Jets will host the New England Patriots in a Monday Night Football matchup to wrap up Week 9. The home team is the only winless team in the NFL this season and will look to avoid dropping to 0-9 against an AFC East Rival that’s dropped four straight.

The Patriots have been ravaged by injuries but are major favorites at -420 on DraftKings Sportsbook. Cam Newton and company managed to keep things close against the division-leading Buffalo Bills despite being extremely undermanned in Week 8 and I think they should rally to beat a lesser opponent by a significant margin.

ATS Pick: Patriots

New England is favored by 9.5 points. While the Patriots have lost four straight games, none of the teams they’ve fallen to have been nearly as bad as the Jets this season. The Patriots haven’t been the most explosive team on offense and won’t be close to their ceiling with out N’Keal Harry and Julian Edelman. New York has the lowest scoring average (11.8 ppg) though and will be missing at least one key player on offense.

Joe Flacco appears to be set to start under center, as Sam Darnold is doubtful to take the field because of a shoulder injury. The Jets have lost by an average of 24 points when “Cool Joe” starts, and that doesn’t bode well for their chances against the spread. Inconsistency at quarterback and the lack of a legitimate feature back will make it tough for New York to get points on the board. Even with Stephon Gilmore ruled out, it won’t sufficiently help the Jets offense.
