Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball maintain best odds to go first overall in 2020 NBA Draft

With less than two weeks to go until the 2020 NBA Draft, we take a look at the odds to go No. 1 overall to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The 2020 NBA Draft is under two weeks away on Wednesday, November 18th virtually from ESPN’s headquarters. The Minnesota Timberwolves have the first overall pick in the draft and there isn’t a clear-cut choice at the top for them. The two names getting the most buzz are Georgia SG Anthony Edwards and NBL G LaMelo Ball. If we look at the odds to go first overall, it’s really a two-man race between those two players. Though, with plenty of uncertainty among prospects, would it be all that surprising if the T-Wolves went off the grid and shocked us all? Definitely not. Let’s take a look at where the No. 1 pick odds are on DraftKings Sportsbook.

After Edwards and Ball, there’s a drop off until we get to Wiseman at +750. There hasn’t been the same draft process because of the coronavirus and the pandemic. Because of that, it wouldn’t surprise me if the T-Wolves went with Wiseman or even Toppin at +10000. This isn’t a make-or-break pick for Minnesota. The T-Wolves might even trade the pick, which would open things up for a team to go after someone like Wiseman at the top. There’s value in both Ball and the big man out of Memphis. I feel like Ball is too risky to go No. 1 overall and the T-Wolves are better served just going with Edwards, who is the more polished prospect. If I had to go with a dark horse for No. 1, Hayes is the guy at +10000. He’s gotten some buzz from those around the industry and The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor even compared him to James Harden. It’d be risky, but there isn’t that much separation at the top in this weaker draft class.

Anthony Edwards: -215
LaMelo Ball: +171
James Wiseman: +750
Deni Avdija: +5000
Obi Toppin: +10000
Killian Hayes: +10000
Onyeka Okongwu: +20000
Isaac Okoro: +30000
Cole Anthony: +50000
RJ Hampton: +50000
