What the Week 15 schedule means for 2020 Heisman Trophy odds

Florida QB Kyle Trask will have two games left, including Saturday vs. LSU to solidify his standing for the Heisman Trophy.

With the college football regular season coming to an end, it means the rubber chicken award season is on the horizon. Unlike previous years where the Heisman Trophy would already be awarded, it will now be handed out in January because of the fluctuating college football schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And DraftKings Sportsbook has your odds on the winner.

We have a clear pool of candidates for college football’s most prestigious and oft-revered award — Kyle Trask, Mac Jones, Trevor Lawrence, Ian Book, DeVonta Smith, and Justin Fields.

Kyle Trask, QB, Florida

Trask is favored to win the award at -125, and still has two games left to solidify his standing. This season the senior quarterback has completed 71.4 percent of his passes for 3,243 yards, 38 touchdowns, and three interceptions.

The No. 6-ranked Florida Gators play the LSU Tigers this week, who just destroyed by the No. 1-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide last Saturday. If Trask can put another good performance against a less than stellar LSU defense and then shows up in the SEC championship game versus Alabama, then he’ll be in good shape.

Mac Jones QB, Devonta Smith, WR Alabama

Speaking of the Crimson Tide, quarterback Mac Jones has the second-best odds behind Trask +125, but could see his vote split between teammate and wide receiver DeVonta Smith. Smith has the second-worst odds to win the Heisman at +2200.

This season Jones is completing 75.7 percent of his passes for 3,113 yards, 27 touchdowns, and three interceptions. A majority of his passing scores went to Smith, who has stepped in as Bama’s WR1 in place of Jaylen Waddle. The senior wideout has 80 receptions for 1,305 yards, and 15 touchdowns.

Both players will have two more chances to make their case with a game Saturday against Arkansas and the SEC title game. It will be tough for either guy to win the trophy at the pace Trask is playing.

The rest of the field odds

Trevor Lawrence: +1200
Ian Book: +1600
Justin Fields: +2500

Unlike Jones and Smith, these three quarterbacks are not splitting votes and can make up ground with tremendous conference championship weekend performances. Lawrence was a shoe-in to win the trophy earlier this season, but with the play of Trask and missing two games due to COVID-19, his odds took a hit. If Lawrence can led his team to another ACC title over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a rematch from earlier this season, there’s a shot for him to climb up the board.

Book and Fields have played great this year excellent football this year, and are key reasons why their teams have a shot to win a conference title and grab a spot in the College Football Playoff.
