Tennessee is checking in with a six-game losing streak and certainly did not deliver in what was a hype-filled offseason in Knoxville. The Volunteers’ ability to stop the run is the strong suit of this team and probably the best unit in this entire game as Tennessee is allowing 3.7 yards per carry, which ranks 36th across all of college football. Offensively, you’re not going to find many positives as the Volunteers rank 107th in yards per play.
As for Vanderbilt, you’re not going to find any positives across the field. With a winless record and not much signs of life, that’s when a head coach gets fired even during a pandemic. After last weekend’s game against Georgia was postponed, this will be Vandy’s first game with Todd Fitch operating as the interim head coach after Derek Mason was fired. Motivation could be a major key in this game.
Tennessee snapped a three-game losing streak the last time these two teams met up with a 28-10 home win in 2019.

The Best Bet
I wanted so bad to take Tennessee in this spot because I do not think we will get much of an effort out of Vanderbilt this weekend, but I cannot go to bed at night feeling happy with my decision to lay more than two touchdowns with this Volunteers offense. Let’s just go with the under and hope for the best, which has been successful when betting on either of these teams recently including the previous matchups in this series. Nothing quite like cheering for red zone stops and three and outs. Take the under.
