Game day update: The Bears could be looking at a big week from David Montgomery against a Houston defense that’s been one of the league’s weaker units against running backs. ESPN is projecting 17.37 fantasy points for Chicago’s leading back.

David Montgomery has now turned in exceptional back to back performances since the Bears returned from their Week 11 Bye. He scored 27.1 PPR points in Week 13 against the Lions when he racked up 72 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries while adding four receptions for 39 yards. He will face a Texans defense in Week 14 that has allowed the second-most fantasy points to opposing running backs so far this season. Is there any reason to doubt starting Montgomery this weekend? We break down the fantasy analysis below.

Fantasy Football analysis: Bears RB David Montgomery

David Montgomery is averaging 14.8 points over the course of this season, but he is averaging an impressive 26.2 fantasy points over the past two weeks. Montgomery is the sole owner of the Bears backfield, and the tumultuous quarterback situation in Chicago may urge the Bears offense to lean even more heavily on the run game. There’s no better time to do so than against a weak rush defense such as the Texans. Montgomery is in a smash spot this week and he belongs in all lineups as an RB1.
