The Houston Texans have not heavily utilized the tight-end position in recent years, and that hasn’t changed much this season despite the departure of top wideout DeAndre Hopkins and the subsequent loss of Will Fuller and Randall Cobb. That doesn’t mean Houston tight ends can’t deliver for fantasy managers, but they need the right situation to justify adding to a lineup.

Fantasy Football analysis: Texans TEs Jordan Akins, Darren Fells

Of the Texans’ top tight ends, Jordan Akins has seen the most work of late. The former third-round pick has garnered nine targets since the start of Week 11, turning those into seven catches for 93 yards. He also has a 4-yard run during that stretch.

Despite serving as the starting tight end for most of the season, Darren Fells trails Akins in production. The veteran Fells hasn’t caught a pass in his last two games and doesn’t have a touchdown since mid-October. While he remains an option in the red zone for quarterback Deshaun Watson, Fells’ value seems incredibly limited during the fantasy playoffs.

As for the Texans’ Week 14 opponent, the Chicago Bears have yielded three receiving touchdowns to tight ends over the last two weeks and have given up an average of 7.3 receptions for 84 yards to the position during that stretch.
