Even if the 2020 season has not unfolded well for the Houston Texans, their quarterback has continued to progress toward superstardom. Deshaun Watson, already one of the most talented signal-callers in the NFL, has taken his game to a new level since the firing of head coach Bill O’Brien and with relatively little help from his supporting cast.
This week, Watson plays the team that most egregiously passed on him in the draft: the Chicago Bears.
Fantasy Football analysis: Texans QB Deshaun Watson
Watson claims Sunday’s matchup with the Bears provides “no motivation” to play better, and perhaps he truly means it. Either way, he should still produce big numbers against a defense that has yielded 613 passing yards and seven touchdown passes to opposing quarterbacks over the past two weeks. It should only help Watson’s case that Chicago’s top defender — outside linebacker Khalil Mack — missed practice most of the week with a shoulder issue.
However, Watson will have to play his second game without wideout Will Fuller. The NFL suspended the veteran receiver for a violation of the performance-enhancing drug policy, leaving an already battered receiving corps without its best weapon. Watson can create with lesser players around him, but he will likely have to perform more out of structure to push the Texans ahead.
