The Kansas City Chiefs held off a tough Miami Dolphins squad in Week 14, but if you bet on the Chiefs, it was not pleasant. The Chiefs appeared to secure a cover on the touchdown spread when Harrison Butker kicked a field goal with 1:12 to go in the game. It gave Kansas City a nine-point lead, and just about settled things.
NOT SO FAST.
The Dolphins drove 49 yards in five plays and decided they were going to kick the field goal with 21 seconds left and try and get back the onside kick. Jason Sanders converted the 44-yard field to cut the lead to 33-27. The Dolphins failed to recover the onside kick and the Chiefs took a knee to finish it — and finish Chiefs backers.
The Chiefs were a touchdown favorite, so if you took the Dolphins, this ended quite well for you. If, like me, you took the Chiefs, it is a serious stomach punch game.
