Pound-for-pound champion Canelo Alvarez is back for his first fight since November 2019 when he knocked out WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev in the 11th round. Alvarez will face fellow super middleweight champion Callum Smith on Saturday at the Alamodome in San Antonio, with the main card getting underway at 8 p.m. ET on DAZN.

This marks Alvarez’s first fight since departing Golden Boy Promotions. He enters the bout as the WBA’s world super middleweight champion while Smith is the WBA’s super world super middleweight champion. And the WBC has even gotten in on the action, putting its vacant super middleweight title on the line. Anything for sanctioning bodies get more fees, right?

Smith comes into the fight at 27-0 with 19 wins by way of knockout. His last fight came in November 2019, with a unanimous decision win over John Ryder. He’s successfully defended his title twice since winning it with a seventh round knockout of George Groves in the World Boxing Super Series final in 2018.

Moneyline odds for the fight opened in November with Alvarez at -455 and Smith at +375. Since then, we’ve seen Alvarez’s odds move to -670, while Smith sits at +400.
