Wednesday update: The Chargers released their final injury report and both Keenan Allen and Mike Williams are listed as questionable for the game. Both receivers were listed as limited on Tuesday and Wednesday, but the team was also providing estimates as they did not have full practices.
Tuesday update: The Chargers injury report looked a little better on Tuesday, as key offensive players were able to get in a limited session. This is a good sign for both Williams and Allen, who now look to be tentatively on track to play against the Raiders.
The Los Angeles Chargers estimated multiple starters as out for their first day of practice on a short Thursday Night Football week. Two of those players, Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, are truly hurting, as both missed game-time in Week 14.
Williams missed most of their game against the Atlanta Falcons after suffering a back injury on their first drive and Keenan Allen missed missed the end of the game after landing hard on his back. This first practice is an estimation, as the team doesn’t do much after playing the day before. Tuesday will be the more important practice to see players get at least a limited workload.
Allen’s injury is labeled “soreness,” per The Athletic’s Daniel Popper, so the hope is some rest will help him get back and ready for Thursday, but the short turnaround could be a problem. Mike Williams has dealt with back problems in the past and him not being able to play at all on Sunday is concerning. We should know more on Tuesday.
